Jack of all Trades Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

-DeRock-: Greetings,

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. This cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable. Since there has been no update with maintenance plans from the cache owner I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting. If not, please pick up any remaining pieces/parts of the cache before they become geolitter.

Thank you,

-DeRock-

As you can tell from the title of this cache, we are taking all that we have learned and applied it. Not just the way we hide the coordinates to the final cache, but also all the different kinds of caches (multi, micro, regular, mystery, etc.), we even added a little twist of ours. The twist, you get to choose the path you take. Take the path with the challenging hides, expect to hike about 5 miles round trip and find 11 stages. If you take the path with the easier hides, expect 10 stages, but a round trip hike of 10 miles. This multi gives you 20 stages if you choose both paths. The choice is yours, but either way, we guarantee you a great deal of exercise and some wonderful views.

The given coordinates will lead you to a parking lot (parking here is free) and you will be searching for a micro to gain the coordinates to the next stage. At stage two, you will find the coordinates to stage three. DO NOT GET CONFUSED, STAGE 3 IS NOT THE FINAL CACHE. Stage 3 is the puzzle portion of this cache. You will need to use the materials provided to identify several items in order to decrypt the coordinates to the next stage. This is where you will have to decide which way to go.

Do not attempt this cache if you don’t like exercise, a challenge, and using your head to learn something new. You won’t be able to use a car on this one. If you are reading this, you are obviously going to take this challenge, good for you. We are placing this cache to remind us what geocaching is all about….getting outside for some exercise and finding some impressive views. I would suggest possibly getting a map, unless you are real adventurous. The North Country Trail is well marked with Blue paint on the trees. There is little to no need for bushwhacking, there are trails and two tracks that will take you within 100 feet of the stages. The following link will take you to the map of the trails this way you can print one out. Watch out for muggles. This cache is placed along the North Country Trail in the Manistee National Forest. Please note the following websites for more information and maps of the areas. (visit link) (visit link)

Parking at the posted coordinates is free, fees may be associated if you park in other areas. Just remember, if you park in other areas, you will just be cheating yourself out of the experience. Also, you will need to bring your own writing utensil (pen, pencil, crayon, whichever you prefer) and paper in order to make notes, especially at stage 3. Some of the stages are a bit fragile, please be careful to place them back exactly as you found them.

UPDATE: We have added another twist to the cache. THE TWIST is a mystery cache we placed into the area. All you have to do is complete both routes to Jack of all Trades cache. Along the way on the short walk, you will find the North 1/2 of the coordinates. Along the long hike, you will find the West 1/2. Place the two together, and you will find the location of our mystery cache. The coordinates to the mystery cache say BONUS CACHE N------- and BONUS CACHE W--------. DO NOT CONFUSE THE NEXT STAGE COORDINATES WITH THE MYSTERY CACHE COORDINATES. IF IT SAYS BONUS CACHE, those are the coordinates for the Mystery, or bonus cache.

In case stage 1 on the short hike, hard finds is missing (look for it anyways, it is on the way to the second stage of the short hike) do the following to get the coords to the 2nd stage of the short hike. Solve the puzzle to work out the coordinates for the short hike hard finds.
N-- --.+1+4- W-- --.+1+1+1 In other words - means the same number, +1 or +4 to the coords.

Rumor has it that some animal has taken off with half of the coords on the short hike, hard finds at the third stage. So when you get to the second stage complete the following to get the missing coords. Go look to find the stage, it is exercise, a view, and a bit of a tricky stage. N-- --.+3-4-1 W-- --.+2-1+2
