Geocache Description:

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, will host the 135th Open Championship of golf from 20th – 23rd July 2006. This will be the 11th time the club has hosted this prestigious event, the last being in 1967 when Roberto de Vicenzo won the famous Claret Jug by two shots from Jack Nicklaus

To have your chance of winning the Geocache Open Championship Claret Jug, you must first complete a round of 9 caches, each located close to a Wirral golf course.

The nine caches to complete before this one are :
Firstly:
The Open - Hole 1 : Arrowe Park G C
The Open - Hole 2 : Bidston G C
The Open - Hole 3 : Brackenwood G C
The Open - Hole 4 : Caldy G C
The Open - Hole 5 : Hoylake G C
The Open - Hole 6 : Leasowe G C
followed by:
The Open - Hole 7 : Prenton G C
The Open - Hole 8 : Wallasey G C
The Open - Hole 9 : Wirral Ladies G C

The first six holes contain information that will enable you to progress to the next three holes. These three holes contain information that will enable you to find this tenth and final cache, near to the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

In each of the 9 caches you will find two ‘hole cards’. These provide the holes number, name, distance, par and the shots taken (in golfing terms, eg birdie). Enter these details on to your scorecard as you will need them for this cache – “The Open - Royal Liverpool GC : The Claret Jug ”.

The cache is actually located at N 53 2%.YYY W 003 1#.ZZZ. The values of %.YYY and #.ZZZ will be revealed when you complete the preceding 9 caches. Track your progress on this chart .

As well as the usual FTF certificate, there are certificates for second and third to find. There is also an engraved ‘Claret Jug’ for the first to complete this Geocache Open Championship. Only take this if you are the first find this cache AND have found all the nine previous caches. This is in a separate camo-bag next to that containing the cache. Finally, please post a photo of yourself with your well-earned trophy).
