Things change, and large expensive pieces of equipment are no longer needed, and slowly rust away.
The railway came to Kapunda in 1860, initially to transport Copper from the mines, and later Kapunda became one of the principle wheat depots. The station is now a B&B, and although the tracks are still there, I don't think there's been any trains through for many years.
