August 11 and 12 in one of Utah's most amazing state parks. Come to Goblin Valley and anjoy a geo-adventure!
This event promises to be a memorable one!
Come to Goblin Valley State Park on Friday August 11 for a campout and lots of activities. Here's what is planned so far:
Friday night caching maze among the Goblins
Friday night - Telescope will be set up for star gazing
Friday night campfire social
Saturday ranger program for kids
Saturday ice cream social
Saturday pot luck lunch
Other activities to beat the heat are in the works.
There is also some great hiking and ATV riding in the area.
The park manager is organizing all of these events and activities. Your only cost is $10 per family; that includes everything--even camping. Please call 1-435-259-9569 to make a reservation. This is a park specific number and you may need to leave a message. This is not the usual way we make camping reservations so please be patient with us. If no one answers, please call back to make the reservation, tell them you are attending the geocaching event. This is a killer deal and if you want to share an individual campsite with another, it is still the $10 charge, as long is there are no more than 2 vehicles per site and no more than 8 people per site. The first sixteen reservations will get thier own campsite, the rest of us will have to bed down in the group area for the same $10 price. Those who wish to stay over Saturday night will be required to pay the normal camp fee of $15.00 per site (again, with up to 8 people) and one extra vehicle at the normal rate of $8.00. The park has under gone some extensive renovation to the campground (new restrooms) and new Visitors Center. All is scheduled to be completed by the 11th. If there is a 'snafu', well let you know by posting it here.
For the potluck please bring a main dish/side dish/ dessert/ of any kind. Bring your own drinks. We'll have some plates and cups there but feel free to bring your own.
An event coin is already ordered and those in attendance will have first purchasing option. Afterwards they will be available to the anyone.
Don't worry about the heat, we'll have so much fun, you'll never even notice it!
