In the book, Innumeracy, the author points out that while people
in our society are disgraced by being illiterate, they laugh about
not being good at math. From this premise the show Numb3rs was
created. The creators of the show were recently awarded the Carl
Sagan award for the Public Understanding of Science.
Numb3rs features two brothers, an FBI agent and a mathematician,
who work together to solve crimes. In each show, the mathematician
demonstrates applications of mathematical probability and
equations.
