Geocache Description:

As the name suggests this cache is located on the final approach to Leeds/Bradford airport. We couldn’t get it quite centre to the runway approach, being approximately 1 metre offset. Whether you are able to see planes taking off or landing depends on the wind direction and Air Traffic Control. Either way you are quite close. When we were locating a suitable site they were landing overhead, when we placed the cache they were taking off.

The nearest parking is on Scotland Lane (N53.51.447, W1.38.512) where there is some rough roadside parking available. If approaching from this direction you may encounter a ‘mad’ dog who jumps out from one of the houses along the private road/public footpath leading to the cache and goes for your ankles. He is muzzled and does go away if you wave your arms about.

A slightly longer approach (0.8miles) can be made from the other side of Trinity and All Saints college (for example N53.50.802, W1.38.790). A footpath from here leads through the college grounds and then some woods to the cache site.

The footpath from either direction is part of the Leeds Country Way.

The cache is a small container. At time of placing it contained :-
a) a camera to take close up pictures of planes,
b) an RAF keyring,
c) a BA pencil
d) lots of small planes + launcher for you to play planes in case no real ones appear.
