A delightful Cache with good views, but 'Hellish' to find.
Hell's Glen.
The road from Lochgoilhead to Loch Fyneside passes throught Gleann Beag; in 1824 Dr John MacCulloch refered to "the deep rude valley called Hell's Glen" and it is still known by this name. This was part of the Duke's Road, the main road from the Lowlands to Inverary.
There are some stands of Oak woods in Hell's Glen, which give a small clue for an explanation for its name as charcoal burning was previously done here, maybe giving the appearance of an inferno. The thundering river, during heavy rain, and its narrow gorge would have enhanced the impresion.
If you continue down towards Lochgoilhead after this cache you'll come across a the Moses Well and a sign telling you more of Hell's Glen.
So, why not come and see if you can find this devilish cache.
Good Luck and Cache well.
