Eben Merritt's pasture was purchased by the town of Chapel Hill in 1989 and is now part of the Morgan Creek Preserve, a 92-acre nature preserve along Morgan Creek from Merritt Pasture to the Chapel Hill town limit at Smith Level Road.
With Google Maps Satellite or Hybrid views you can get an excellent view of the meadow and make out the trail circumnavigating it.
Parking: is available in a new lot accessible from the eastbound lanes of NC54. From there it is about a mile walk to the cache along a woodland corridor that James Taylor called "Copperline.
The cache is just a short ways off the trail that circumnavigates the meadow. There are some easily avoidable thorns and poison ivy in the vicinity, but no need to bushwhack.
