Secret Swimming Hole-Riverside Series Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bush Babies: I set out this morning prepared to replace the cache with a new container. After driving within 2km of the cache on the Elliott Rd, I came upon a big washout which I may have been able to cross, but being alone I decided to walk. The cache was in good shape but the area has changed somewhat in the last 18 years, with lots of new growth.
Three finds since 2020, inaccessible area, and tough to do maintenance convinced me to remove it. It was a good run. 🙂

Geocache Description:

Part of a series of caches placed along some scenic rivers.

One of a series of caches hidden in scenic spots along some Nova Scotia rivers that we would like to share.
This one is hidden near a local swimming hole and waterfall. Accessed via a riverside trail from the intersection of Douglas and Elliott Roads.
Douglas Rd. is the best approach from Hwy 14 in Centre Rawdon although it can be rough at times, particularly when the frost first comes out in late winter/early spring. Elliott Rd. from Lakelands Rawdon Rd. in Hillsvale is worse, but may be passable by a vehicle with higher ground clearance or even the family sedan in dry conditions.
Trail head coordinates in the additional waypoints section. Follow the trail until you reach a deep ravine. Don't try to cross it, unless you're going for a swim. Cache is about 25m up the hill. Satellite reception can be sketchy at times near the site.

Update June 15,2016 The bridge is out crossing the Herbert River so Elliott Rd is your best bet for access.

For those who have found our cache Just Water Under The Bridge, you will be familiar with the area.

Cache is a large ammo can with a variety of trade items, log book and pencil.
A certificate and prize await the First To Find.
