Parks Referendum Project
FROM US Hwy 1, go east 3.2 miles on SR-520. Turn into the park complex at the light just east of Sykes Creek Parkway.
Park open after 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Center open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00-6:00 p.m., and for scheduled use. Office open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Boat ramp open 24 hours.
The Merritt Island/Beaches Parks Operations office is located at this 18.38-acre community river park. Situated in a wildlife sanctuary, the park caters to both active and passive recreational enthusiasts. The boat ramp and a natural launch area provide access for boaters, rowers and paddlers into Sykes Creek leading to the Barge Canal or Banana River. Fishing is popular from the shoreline and fishing dock. An exercise trail, softball fields, basketball, tennis and racquetball courts invite fitness and active play.

The Community Center features ongoing activities, a gymnasium, a small kitchen and meeting rooms. Another meeting room and a banquet sized kitchen are located at the event pavilion. Additional facilities that make this park attractive for group gatherings and community events include a large pavilion, 3 small pavilions, a playground, benches, restrooms, and drinking fountains. For meetings and small group activity, the new Community Building is conveniently located at the park entrance (a Referendum Project to be completed early 2005--for more information click on the Referendum Project link above).
