nice little local park. 400 acres of shelters, trails, etc.
First CITO event in Butler. The troop uses this park quite a bit and have cleaned the lower end the past 2 years as part of the National River Cleanup. In the summer, every Thursday there is a free program open to the public. The girls favorite park activity-is doggy fun day where the dogs swim in the pool. There's fishing contests in the pool, Halloween bonfire, Christmas Caroling, etc. It's a very active little park. Come check it out!
The coordinates above are for the Holly Shelter parking area. Directions: from Route 356 turn at Snack and Pack and turn right at the stop sign into the park. Follow the road through the gate to the shelter. From the town of Butler, follow Penn Street to the upper end of Alameda turn left. The Holly Shelter is beyond the 'purple' playground in the upper end of the park.
The event begins at 6pm and will end around 8pm. I'll have water and snacks available. I'll also have garbage bags and maps of the park. Please bring your own work gloves! There's places with lots of poison ivy-so long pants may be advisable. Please RSVP so I have an idea how much water to buy!
There's two local caches hidden in the park. I'm working on setting up a temporary cache just for the event that will hopefully have prizes for those that complete it. Bear with me-this is my first attempt at CITO!
Thanks, hope you can help clean up a nice local park in Butler.
