Ground Zero - 28658 (Well almost) Mystery Cache

RanHefner: Due to local governments taking a hard-line on urban caches and even going as far as threatening felony charges for a Altoids tin, I will be archiving most of my urban caches.

I feel that is an over-reaction on the part of local authorities. But, I can't afford to get caught-up in a government flexing of muscle just for a geocache.

You can park right next to the geocache site. The container is a small, Nalgene-type bottle that is camoed, but should be easy to find once you crack the code!



I wanted to do for Newton, North Carolina what OldManJack did for Hickory with Ground Zero - 28601. That is to find a location as close to the center of a city when you do a zip code search on GEOCACHING.COM. The problem is that when I did this search for Newton, North Carolina (28658), it was a telephone pole right-smack-dab in the front yard of a resident of my fair city. I looked for some stealthy possibilities, but I found none. So the next, best thing is to do a puzzle cache with the phoney coordinates being exactly "Ground Zero" and the actual cache close-by.

The puzzle will be quite simple for some and very difficult for others. A little understanding of numbers is necessary. Don't worry, I will give HUGE nudges after the FTF is logged. Everything you need for the actual coordinates of the cache will be between the two horizontal rules:

There you have it! Have fun cracking the code and finding "Ground Zero - 28658 (Well almost)"
