Geocache Description:

This is a clear-day cache, and bring your appetite, because there is plenty of scenery to chew on up here.

At 6769 feet, the summit of Starvation Mountain gives you a panoramic view: to the north, you see the south slope of Tiffany Peak, and, if it’s really clear, shift your line of site a tad to the east, and you may be able to the Monashees in Canada. The Cascades, dominated by Isabella Ridge, stretch across the western horizon. The Sawtooth Range fills most of the southern horizon. Granite Peak fills most of the eastern view, but in the distance, one can see Moses Mountain just to a tad north of Granite. The summit is the site of a former radar station and now serves as a heliport and alien landing pad. Don't feed the aliens.

Take USFS 42 to USFS 4235 and follow it to the top. The road is mostly dirt, but well-maintained. This route is a great snowmobile ride in the winter, and a pretty good place to find a nice little Christmas tree. The Starvation Mountain Road is also part of the Lightning Creek Loop, a terrific mountain bike ride that has some screaming downhill single track fun. Personally, we like to hitch a ride to the top, and ride the bikes down.
