This cache is located near a new museum in Metropolis, IL, but
admission is not required to access this cache. However, the cache
is located on museum grounds which is accessible only during
business hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 7 days a week. Recently, the
museum has been locking the gate. So, keep in mind there is no
access to the cache when the museum is closed.
Among the more than 40,000 pieces of memorabilia in the museum
are a John Wayne cowboy hat, Elvis' guitar, jumpsuit and Army
jacket, a robot from the 1960s television series "Lost in Space,"
the jacket Jimi Hendrix wore to Woodstock, straitjackets and
shackles used by Harry Houdini, the original Maltese Falcon,
original masks from "The Creature from the Black Lagoon," and
Universal Studios monster models of the 1960s. Be warned, however,
that not all interpretive signs are yet in place.
The area near the cache also includes some interesting items.
Check out the giant "kryptonite," the waterfall/fish pond and the
old caboose.
