Third Annual Cool Coastal Retreat Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

The GeoGadgets Team: I think this has been up long enough for everyone who attended to log and get all of the TBs and coins out.
Thanks to EVERYONE who attended, helped, donated stuff... we had a wonderful time. We'll miss all of you, new friends and old.
Keep cool!

Geocache Description:

The Third Annual Cool Coastal Retreat Event (and Going-Away Party!) in Crescent City, California

THIRD ANNUAL
(~... c o o l . . c o a s t a l . . r e t r e a t . . c a c h e . . e v e n t ...~)
(sub-titled this year only: "MAINE OR BUST")

Ready to get out of the heat? Want to spend some time Geocaching at the beach? Been thinking about coming over to the Coast to meet some of the Geocachers there? Well, how about doing it all, and a Potluck lunch, too? How about a going-away party and a Travel Bug swap all rolled into that, too? Please come out and wish us bon voyage for our last West Coast event for the forsee-able future!

This has been a big hit the past two years and folks had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, this will be The GeoGadgets Team's last year of the CCRCE, as we are moving to Maine on August 1st. So this year the event will be a little different... a little earlier in the year. Our team won't be hiding any new caches (we'd just have to find folks to adopt them!), but already have a few people promising to fill that void - so, YES! there will be caches to hunt! Also, we'll be posting our route to the East Coast on this page, so if you have Travel Bugs that you'd like to send that direction, bring them and we'll be happy to move them on.

Bring your favorite dish to share, your favorite drinks (no alcohol, please!), plates or bowls and stuff to eat with, and we will have a couple of barbecues set up if you want to grill some meat. Oh yeah, and bring your families, GPSs, trade items and get ready for some Cool Summer Fun on the Northern California Coast!

Entertainment will be supplied in the usual way - new caches! As usual, the new caches will be available first only to those who show up - with prizes for the First Finders of each. There will be a scavenger hunt for the kids, a raffle (more info coming soon!) and the first four groups to show up will receive a brand-new Travel Bug to get started on it's journey.

Here's the itinerary/schedule:

  • 11 a.m. - Show up, sign in and get raffle tickets (first one is free - after that $1/each);
  • 12 p.m. - Lunch/potluck (please be here earlier to begin grilling your meat);
  • 1 p.m. - Kids' games revealed;
  • 1:30 p.m. - New Geocache print-outs released;
  • 4 p.m. - Meet back at park for raffle and Travel Bug swap.

The Event will be held at Beachfront Park, so make sure you bring your bathing suit and sand bucket. Coordinates are the same as the past two years. Lunch/potluck starts at noon, so if you want to barbeque meat, get here before then! If you are interested in camping, EMAIL us ahead of time and we may be able to arrange a space at the site. For motel/hotel reservations for your stay, please visit the Chamber of Commerce website for that information. Check under Travelers Amenities.

If you don't know what to bring to the potluck (other than whatever meat you want), then if your last name starts with the letters:

  • A through H - bring a bread or chips;
  • I through P - bring a dessert;
  • Q through Z - bring a side dish or salad.

This is a non-GeoCheaters function!
Pocket Caches are STRONGLY discouraged! Please be considerate and follow this rule.
