Cache is about a ten-minute hike to the top of a bluff. There is a trail, but it's a bit steep in places. Parking is available off of Brown Road, on the south side of the highway.
Cache is placed near an overlook on a bluff called "Old Baldy." The bluff is named because of the prominent rock outcropping at the top. It is a popular place for kids from two nearby Bible camps to hike during the summer, and maybe have a picnic lunch. Camp Michigamme is a United Methodist camp located just southwest of the cache location. I spent many weeks at the camp over the past 30 years, and made my first hike to this spot as an elementary camper in 1980.
After parking, start in on the ATV trail across the highway from Brown Road and cross the east-west ATV route. The trail to the top enters the woods near the ATV access at the end of the guardrail. Cache is a camouflaged ammo can.
WARNING: You are hiking to the top of a bluff. While dozens of elementary children from two area camps do this safely every summer, make sure to keep an eye on younger children at the top.
