Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
IMPORTANT: This is the third and last of a serie of 3 caches. If you decide to go for this one, you must have visited the second cache of the serie in order to retreive information written inside.
If you did "Mountain Trilogy Second" and took note of the information written inside the lid, you are ready for this cache (the third and last).
If you go at the posted coordinates, you wil be too far from the cache. If you want to find it, you will have to ask your GPS to "project" a point at a distance of "xxx" meters and a bearing of "xxx" degres (true north). The needed numbers to replace those "xxx" are the ones you saw inside the second cache of the serie.
The cache is a tobacco container painted camo. Hung to a small tree at about 2 meters from the ground. Pensil, logsheet and trade items are inside.
Because of dense vegetation, some GPS may have a poor accuracy in that area. So we choose to locate the cache near an easy to spot rock. About 1 meter high and 2 meters long. The rock has the form of a big dinosaure egg (we are not sure if it is an egg or not).
This cache is rated 5/5. It is difficult. When a motel is rated 5 stars, you expect to relax in a comfortable, easy and quiet environment. When a cache is rated 5 stars for the terrain, you must absolutely expect all the reverse. Here is what awaits you: Climbing (moderate); vegetation very dense; two small brooks (2 meters wide); a bit of swamp (easy to avoid); fallen trees everywhere and not too good GPS reception (but honestly usable enough).
Now, for those of you who enjoy working with compass to find a cache... well... take an advice from us and forget it. Unless you can project with all level of terrain; and you can resection with no landmark; and you can detour every 5 meters and still keep the pace count and perfect bearing; and what else... maps are not reliable for those small brooks... Just believe us and go with YOUR GPS (compass as a backup).
We enjoyed placing that cache the place is a real piece of paradise. Going for a 5/5 cache is rewarding. Enjoy!!!
