Geocache Description:

This hike is approximately 1 mile from parking to the end of the trail at the ridge top. It is uphill all the way and at times somewhat steep.

Near the trailhead is a root cellar that was used by French Canadian Laurence Pensineau as part of his trading house operation in the 1830s. The trail itself was once a farm road that went all the way into Weston. Once at the ridge top (trails end) you can see what was Kickapoo Island before the Missouri River changed its course in 1858.

Many thanks to the knowledgable staff at Weston Bend State Park for their support and information.

Permit on file with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
