Geocache Description:

A 2 part cache at Picnic Island Park in South Tampa.

We have set a 2 part cache at Picnic Island Park in South Tampa. This is a great park with so few caches, so we decided to add one of our own. This hunt takes you to NO NO Beach; a part of the park that was so unknown in the past, it was a good place to catch someone sunbathing nude(a big No No here). Times have changed though rest assured.

This is an ordinary traditional cache (trading items, log book, ammo box) with an assortment of nice quality trading items(too many to list). The contents range from gumball type trinkets to licensed Buccaneer items. We hope everyone will practice good geo etiquette and try to trade something of equal or greater value so this cache will stay the same or improve in its contents for later cache visitors. While we agree that the real fun is in the hunt and finding the caches, we also find that we enjoy it more (feel more rewarded) when we find something "neat" in the caches to trade....especially if it was a long hike or a difficult cache to find.

The best place to park to begin this hunt is at these coordinates:
n 27 50.941
w 082 33.214

Once parked you can easily walk the rest of the way. The hike should be fairly easy, I usually only wear sneakers or sandals when visiting this area. The coordinates for the 1st part of this hunt will take you down near the southern tip of the park....just a short walk through a mowed grassy field if you parked at or near the above coordinates. Here you will find a hidden micro(2x2)cache. This cache is located near the beginning of a trail that leads into the mangroves along the beach edge. This cache is secured with a piece of string. You can pull one end (short) of the string to loosen the loop to retrieve the cache and pull the other end (long) to tighten it back around the cache when you are finished. Their should be no untieing or re-tieing involved. Please be sure to place it back and secure it with the string just as it was. Inside of this cache are the coordinates to the real cache, the ammo box. VERY IMPORTANT...once you have the numbers to the cache entered into your gps, you MUST continue on the trail through the trees to get to the other cache. If you try going a different route, or back the way you came, you had better bring some waders. Following this trail should keep your feet high & dry. This trail will lead you around to No-No beach. Enjoy the walk and check your GPS. Once it appears the cache is to your left, head up towards the vegetation. You will see paths through grassy vegetation with small bushes and short trees...no need for bushwacking. The cache is in there we promise. If you find it exposed in anyway, please replace the camo with more dead local foliage. Please do not leave any part of the box visible. You shouldn't need any hints for the second cache. Here is why....your gps signal/accuracy at this cache site should/could be as good as it will ever be anywhere, and since the coordinates are good, you should be able to absolutely pinpoint it with a quality unit. Ours claimed 7 ft accuracy here.

We find these caches very difficult to visit on weekends because of sooo many mugglers around. It can be busy at times. Please use caution and max discretion when finding these caches as to not let anyone catch you finding or re-hiding them. It is best, after finding the second cache, to take it and head back further into the woods with it....the trail leads right back to a nice clear area for you to set down and enjoy digging through the treasures.

Do feel free to stuff this cache. I have seen some caches say please do not overstuff. We do not care! If it gets too overstuffed, We have bigger ammo boxes to move it into. Trade away and stuff all you like. Just enjoy it to the max!

This cache doesn't really have any particular item labeled as a FTF prize, however, the cache has several nice items in it, so the first person to find should just pick out their FTF prize from the items in the cache. Just make a note of which one you took in the log book please.

After finishing with the second cache, a quick glance at your gps may show you a much shorter route back to your car. BEWARE...this more 'direct' route can only be done at a real low tide, and then still usually with muddy feet. Feel free to explore, but going this route back is not advised. It's safer and drier to backtrack.

If you wish for this hunt to be as difficult as it can be, do not read the following PARAGRAPH as it contains a few references to help locate the well hidden micro as well as the second cache.

Once you reach the coordinates for the micro cache, look for it on the left side near the beginning of the trail. It can be found near or on the ground between two small trees(4-5 inch diam) that look like they touch at the ground. It is in this crotch between the two trees. It is small and camo so it can be difficult to spot. It is tied to the base of one tree. Please be sure to place it back and secure it with the string just as it was. Storm tides sometimes reach this high and we dont want it to float away. Please make sure to hide it well when you are finished. For the second cache, it is located at the base of a bush about 8 feet off one of the paths and is completely hidden by the long grass. Please completely re-hide it.
