Geocache Description:

Medium Ammo Box hidden in part of the Naranja Town Site. Cache location provides for a nice view of the future park and performing arts center location.

The Naranja Town Site is an old gravel quarry which was purchased by the town of Oro Valley in 1996, with an additional 173 acres purchased in 2000. The area will be developed into a community park featuring a performing arts center, community center, baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis facilities, and several miles of hiking trails.

As of June 2006, planning is still underway for the majority of the development. The hiking trails have just been rough graded and the parking area improved. Park in the parking area and procede west on the trail. The cach itself is a medium sized ammo box. It is located a couple hundred feet off of one of the trails, but is fairly easy to reach. Note: You do NOT need to go through the barbed wire fence to reach the cache. If you find a barbed wire fence between you and the cache, go back to the trail and continue on it until you pass through the opening in the fence. You can reach the cache easily from the trail one you pass the fence.

We initially stocked this cache with the following items: Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Travel Bug World Travel GeoCoin Blue Mardi Gras Beads Giesha Keychain Silver Ring Sea Shell A Cisco Systems Pen And, of course, a logbook. As always when in the desert, watch out for local wildlife, especialy the crawling and slitering posionous varieties. Don't stick you hand anywhere you can't see!
