    Fisher Cave Tour

Again this year you have an opportunity to tour a cave. This cave is Fisher Cave. The naturalist at Meramec State park would like to know how many people would be interested in this opportunity. So if you are the least bit interested please let us know BEFORE August 15 . Prices for this would be half price. $3 for Adults, $2.50 for Teens, Kids 6-12 $2, & kids under 5 free. Currently 2 tours are being set up with a maximum of 15 people each. So sign up early. There may be a slight chance of setting another tour up, but as mentioned slight. So if the tours are filled and you are still interested just let us know.

    Fisher Cave

Fisher Cave is not like Onondaga as in it is not as well devoloped nor publicized. At Fisher they give you lights to carry. There is a concrete path though. Also you need to be aware that it takes approx. 90 mins. There are parts of the cave that is as low as 50 inches where you will need to stoop and as narrow as 15 inches in places. Fisher is not accessible to strollers, walkers, or wheelchairs.

Matt and I have done this tour some years ago and it was well worth it.

Still Interested In The Tour and It Is Full? - Read On

As you can see the cave tours are full. We have finally heard back from Meramec State Park. They cannot set up another tour.

However if you would still like to do the cave tour you can show up a bit early at the cave, at either the 1 or 3 o'clock time and pay full price for the tour. This is $6 for adults, $5 for 13-19, $4 for 6-12. We can only reserve 15 spots at each time for our group. The park however lets 30 people at a time tour the cave. The openings are for other people that may be at the park that day and would like to tour the cave.

The naturalist did mention that if for some reason no other visitors at the park are wanting to tour the cave there could be the possibility of getting the group rate along with the rest of the group.

    Swimming

Swimming is an option. The Meramec River is right next to the shelter. If it is hot at this picnic like it was last year this is an option to keep open. Swimming at the state park is allowed. The park has no designated swimming areas, but people are allowed to swim at their own risk throughout the park.

    50/50 Drawing

There will be a 50/50 drawing.
