Geocache Description:


This cache is located on the outskirts of Sparwood heading towards Elkford. Head down lower elk valley road and let your GPS guide you. The Big Ranch (325 ha) was purchased in 1990 to provide winter forage and cover for wildlife. Up to 300 Elk and some white-tailed deer and mule deer winter on this property. Moose, black bear, mountain lion and grizzly bear also frequent the area. This land provides habitat for a variety of birds and other grassland, open forest and valley bottom wildlife species, Kestrels, red-tailed hawks, bald eagles, ospreys, great horned owls, pileated woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers and a variety of songbirds are found here.
The area is quite beautiful but can only be explored on foot or horseback so please take extra care when site seeing the area.
