The 31st Parallel Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

isht kinta: Since the cache owner has not responded to my reviewer log about the cache, nor did they post a note to the cache page telling me and others of their intention to address the issue with it, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to the cache page requesting the cache owner to post a response on what they were planning to do with the cache. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that they are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Geocache Description:

The 31st Parallel

Welcome to Louisiana! This area of Louisiana was once part of Florida and is known as the Florida Parishes.

The Florida Parishes are those parishes in Louisiana which were part of West Florida in the early 19th century. Unlike much of the state of Louisiana , this region was not part of the Louisiana Purchase as it remained under Spanish control.

After a rebellion, the region formed part of the short-lived Republic of West Florida in 1810. Later that same year, the region was annexed by the United States and incorporated into the Orleans Territory .

The Florida Parishes of Louisiana stretch from the Mississippi state line on its eastern and northern borders, to the Mississippi River on its western border, and Lake Pontchartrain on its southern border. The most populated community is the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

Here is a list of Parishes that were once apart of the Republic of West Flordia .

East Baton Rouge Parish
East Feliciana Parish
West Feliciana Parish
Livingston Parish
St. Helena Parish
St. Tammany Parish
Tangipahoa Parish
Washington Parish

To find the cache go to the above coordinates. There you will find a marker needed to solve for the cache coordinates.

To find the North coordinates, subtract 1724 from the first year on the marker. That is your N coords.

To find the West coordinates, subtract 1194 from the last year on the marker. That is your W coords.

Have fun and please make sure that you put the cache back just like you found it.

Please leave the cache container lid tied in it's hiding spot while logging the cache, that way it stays where it should.
