Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates! Cachers will need to do some background research on the Sutong Bridge, the world's longest span cable-stayed bridge to date. The bridge is in Jiangsu Province and spans the Yangtze River, the longest river in Asia.

Sutong Bridge Project

The longest cable-stayed bridge in the world is currently under construction (June 2003 and open to traffic end of 2008)  to link the ancient Chinese city of Suzhou to the industrial center of Nantong, spanning the Changjiang River (a tributary of the Yangtze River), 108 km upstream of the Yangtze estuary leading to the Yellow Sea.  Currently, vehicle  traffic between these two cities takes the hour drive around the Chengong watercourse from the Hangzhou Airport to Ningbo, or a longer ferry ride.  By the end of 2008, the bridge will speed the journey to 5 minutes.

Once completed, the bridge will create four new world records for cable-stayed bridges: its (ABCD)m central span will be the longest; the (EFG)m-high main bridge tower will be the highest; the two foundation piers of the main bridge will be the deepest; and the longest stay of the main bridge will also the longest in the world, so far, at (HIJ)m.  The total length of the bridge will be (KLMN)m

Checksums:

ABCD = 17; EFG = 9; HIJ = 13; KLMN = 16;

You are looking for small camoed pill bottle at Canal rock, with the final latitude/longitude of the cache, Note the bridge downstream; the cache is towards that bridge and adjacent to the canal road. Canal Rock Waypoint: N44*PQ.RST, W121*UV.WXY

The calculation:  Do the math below, substutiting the numbers you find on the Internet search in the four measurements above.  For example, if Z = (D + K)/4, then Z = (8 + 8)/4 = 16/4 = 4

P = J; Q = C + 1; R = H; S = D; T = (G – E)/3;

U = (I – H)/3; V = M; W = (K – N + L); X = I – H; Y = K - L
