Geocache Description:

Cache IS at the posted coordinates.

Have you ever been called a Snake in the Grass?  What does that mean, you may ask?  Well, I’m here to tell you the legend of the Snake in the Grass.

Long ago in mythological days of yore there lived a great snake.  His name was Uroboros.  He was the mightiest of all creatures in the grass lands.  He devoured all that came within his reach.  Because so many of the creatures of the grasslands feared him and fled, there became very little for him to eat.  But as he grew larger, his appetite became enormous.  He ate all things that came within his reach, save the grass.

One day a knight came across the plains hearing of the legend of the Snake in the Grass.  He was a mighty knight from a kingdom now long forgotten.  He went in search of Uroboros to slay the mighty creature, because that is what brave and powerful knights do.  Since all the creatures had either been eaten or fled the plains, Uroboros was famished.  Upon seeing the knight on his mighty steed in armored splendor, he slithered through the grass hoping to grab his next pray.  What he didn’t know was that the knight wore the strongest and mightiest armor his kingdom had ever created using the secret knowledge of metallurgy and magic discovered long ago.

As the knight crossed the plains, Uroboros waited patiently in the grass.  When the knight arrived, Uroboros sprang with all his might and swallowed the knight whole before he knew what happened.

You would think that the knight would have been triumphant because a brave and virtuous knight is always supposed to win.  But you would be wrong.  Mostly.  You see, while his magical armor could not be harmed, the knight was made of flesh and bone and was easily digested.  The armor, however, lodged itself in Uroboros’ digestive system.  And since Uroboros ate all the other creatures including the people, there were no veterinarians around.  Uroboros died with a hunk of metal in his gut.  And thus the legend of the Snake in the Grass is now told.

It’s not much and that was pretty lame I admit, but it’s all that I could come up with.  However, that is not the point.  This is a geocache and you want to find what I have hidden somewhere and log it so you can add it to your numbers.  And that’s all you really have to know.

The good news is that the story may actually have some relevance to this cache.  Sort of.  You may be surprised as to how well this cache is hidden (but not difficult).  Please be as descript as you would like in you logs, but keep in mind the next cacher.  Don’t give away any trade secrets.  It’s very important you carefully replace the cache as you found it.  And have fun and enjoy the walk and our canyon area.  There are other caches nearby if you haven’t already gotten them.

It’s an easy walk from a nearby neighborhood park with plenty of parking.  No bushwhacking required (might be a little grass-whacking).  The cache is about 15 feet from the main trail.  Be careful of Snakes and other critters.  No poison oak here.  This is a Log-Only cache and there is no pencil or pen, so bring your own.  Be careful, this cache is kind of out in the open so use moderate stealth modes and do your best not to give yourself away.  Sorry, due to the size there is no FTF prize here other than the self gratification of being the first.  Who will it be?  Good luck.
