Sealed road access plus a short dirt road, alternatively park
and walk 5 minutes. As you approach the cache area try to follow
the grass edge along the bushes to avoid leaving a trail of
footprints to the cache.
Lake Otamangakau is part of the Western Diversion of the
Tongariro Power Scheme. It is a popular trophy trout fishing lake,
frequented by both local and overseas anglers, and well known for
the size and quality of the fish in this peaceful environment.
Please Note: This is a popular trout fishing area where the
natural beauty, wildlife, peacefulness and quietude are much
appreciated. The landscape near the canals is gradually being
refilled and restored. It is NOT a playground for Quad
bikes.
