The American Flag is an amazing symbol. On it,
stretches thirteen stripes for the men and women who came to
this land and forged a new nation with their blood, sweat and
determination. They waged war for freedom - freedom of
thought, freedom to have a fair and just government, and even
freedom to worship as they saw fit. Those people made us a
flag, gave us Independance Day, and even declared the rights
we still have 230 years (to the day) after our independance
was first gained.
Thirty-seven states (shining stars on a regal field of blue)
and numerous wars later, Amierca still stands, beautifully poised
in a harbor, but all around us, too. Her men and women have bravely
fought for the freedom found in a symbol left mostly unchanged
since Betsy Ross sewed the first flag all those years
ago.
From the
first shots of the Revolution, Civil War pitting brother against
brother, and the War to End All Wars (parts I and II) - this cache
is for you. For the Battling Bastards of Bataan, to those once in
Vietnam, this is for you. For those who fought in the sand then and
now, this is for you.
Near the
cache you'll find a circle of seven flags with one larger one in
the middle. Because of these people, those flags still fly today.
And to them, I dedicate this cache.
