BEENTHERE309's SOUTH OF THE BORDER SPORE CACHE Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

BEENTHERE309: Normally I'm a big beleiver in replacing muggled caches. However, this particular one required alot of effort and time to put together, which I don't have tis time of year. I hope to bring it back sometime, but temporarily disabling it is probably not enough time. Will fully archive this one for now in hopes of resurrecting it someday. Thanks to all who have searched and thanks especially to the many who have planted spores across the land.

Geocache Description:

Take home a great, FREE, souvenir from the tackiest place on earth, and advance the sport of geocaching!!

I love making geocaches, but I live in a high cache-density area, and all the good spots have been taken. So I got this idea (and plagiarized some of the text) from Jack's Evil Seed Cache up near Raleigh. In case you didn't know, a SEED cache contains the "seeds" for future caches. A spore, however, is a completed plant cell that moves to a new place, and needs no fertilization. In this cache, you will find complete geocaches (container, swag, logbook, etc.) to take home with you and plant in your own area.

The Cache is located at the famous South of the Border, the South's version of Wall Drug. For 200 miles or so in any direction you will see billboards, billboards, billboards. You really have to stop (it's like a law or something) and when you do, there are three caches scattered about the general area. Of course, muggles abound, use stealth and common sense. Find the other two, and then find mine.

The container itself is bigger than what most people call a "large" ammo can. It is hidden in a wooden area behind one of the many touristy shops that make up South of the Border. (Technically, it is located in North Carolina, but only by about 50 feet, the best way to get there is through South Carolina) Locals have informed me that alligators have been spotted in the area that the cache is in (seriously!!) so please use caution. As always, safety first!!

Now the fun part! Now, if you want, you can do the usual and sign the log and post a smiley for the find, but this cache is really designed to advance the sport. If you choose to, you are welcome to take a "spore" from the cache, hide it, publish it and post the GC number in your cache log. The FTF goes to the person who locates cache, gets a "spore", plants the spore, and has cache approved and GC number posted. Post the type container you took, or email me the info if you want to keep it secret.

There is a wide range of container sizes in the cache, from nano to regular. All containers are fair game except the mother container. This is not a "trading" cache per se, so you are not obligated to leave anything. (Unless you really feel obligated to, or have a TB that needs to move on or something).

Don't take a spore unless you intend to plant it. 'Pedro's Bridge' (waypoint GCTCDE) and 'S.O.B.! Where's That Cache?' (waypoint GCKH9A) are perfectly fine caches if you are just looking for number of finds. If you do not intend to establish a cache, please leave it for others to find.

Don't establish the cache until you get home (**Even if you are thinking "wouldn't it be REALLY cool to put a cache in ORLANDO?? at DISNEYLAND??? Geocaching.com frowns on caches that are too far from the owner's home base, so you wouldn't want to do that unless you LIVE in Orlando and have some really, really good connections at Disneyland.**)

This cache is placed to challenge you to get out there are place a hide when you get home.

So:

1. Locate the cache.

2. Take a spore.

3.Plant the spore when you get home.

4. Publish the cache on geocaching.com

4.Post GC number in this cache log.

5. Enjoy the adventure!

Finally, the owner of 'S.O.B.! Where's That Cache?' - ATC Dude - has kindly agreed to help me keep an eye on this cache, and I will keep an eye on his cache down at South of the Border as well.
