This cache is a, ammo box and located on the grounds of a BREC park, Blackwater Conservation Area. The cache is less than ¼ mile off one of the trails but watch for snakes and briers. Park at the parking lot just off Hooper Road on Blackwater (LA 410) [N30 32.080 W091 05.230].
This is a fun cache for scouts and those that like to get off the trail. Watch for snakes, bugs and briers (wear long pants, and maybe rubber boots). You may have to work around the water. More information about the park and BREC can be found at (visit link)
This park was an old dirt pit that the Army Corp of Engineers restored as a wildlife refuge, (visit link) There is at least one other cache in this park and at the time of this publication, three in the Comite Bike park across the river on Hooper Road (LA 408). The park has river access and bath rooms with new wash down station for muddy boots. If you are out in the summer near dark be sure to check out the bat house just north of the bath house place by Pack 13 Cub Scouts from Blackwater UMC (who meet Tuesday night just up the road on the right, Blackwater UMC).
