Geocache Description:

Beautiful walk along the Finger Lakes Trail. Some areas of the trail are close to drop-offs, so keep a close eye on little ones! The are a couple of different ways to hike in. The "short" way we are providing parking coordinates for. This way is a nice walk-in, but a harder walk-out...hence the difficulty rating. Bring water as it gets hot here in the summer. Please hide better than found so this does not "disappear" again.

The cache was originally an ammo box. Since someone in the area likes to go around stealing them, it is now a lock-n-lock container. This is located on state park land, but there are posted land near, so please watch signs. The parking coordinates for the "shortest" way in are: N 42 21.390 S 076 55.768. You will see a gate please park in the pull-off to the left. Walking to the cache from the parking coordinates you will be tempted to veer off the correct path. Go straight on the trail until you are near Glen Creek Pond. Once the pond is in sight you will pick up the Finger Lakes trail. This is marked with white blazes on trees. This will take you where you need to go. The walk is beautiful. You will pass Glen Creek Pond and a dam at the end. In this area, there is a tree with a turkey vulture nest. On many occasions, while Evil Monkey 3 has been hiking we have seen the turkey vultures hunting for food, and land in their nest. Pretty pictures if you can catch them! You can also hike in from below. (The way we recommend) A bit longer but still only around a half-mile hike. Parking pull-off on Whites Hollow Road. Parking coords for this way are N 42 21.832 W 076 54.642. (Same place for All in All it's Just another, Kodi & Barney's 1st Cache, and The Black Spot) A little longer hike, but beautiful. You will hike behind Hidden Valley 4-H Camp, and there is a Finger Lakes Log Book on this trail to log your adventures. If you want to grab a couple of caches together and are in for a little longer hike this is the way to go. In honor of DLLK who got us into this sport, and the TIKI BIRDS who were soon to follow. Happy Caching!
