Geocache Description:

The mound country of Clark and Jackson counties is some of the most unique terrain in all of Wisconsin. Located near the driftless area, these unglaciated mounds were once islands in the middle of ancient glacial Lake Wisconsin thousands of years ago. When the glacial meltwater finally drained away to present day levels, these rocky mounds stood as striking sentinels rising above the countryside.

Park at the waypoint listed below

(Elevation 1178 ft.)THE CACHE IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE MOUND. Take the wooden stairs up and head west to the TOP and go a short ways to some awesome views on top of Wildcat Mound. There is NO need to take unnecessary risks. Once the cache is found there are a couple of rock outcrops with spectacular views, perfect for sitting awhile, enjoying a packed in lunch, snack or drink and perusing the cache!

Also take time to explore the many trails to the east and along the base of the mound. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular.
