Billy's Beach Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dippedidooda: Wow in the 13 years since i hid this cache, i think i've got older! It seemed like quite the precarious scramble to get to it. Container was broken, and as i am seldom down this way any more, am archiving it.

Geocache Description:

A bit of a clamber to a great vantage point in the South Arm area.

This cache started out as Billy's Bluff but has been re-named Billy's Beach because I've put a new cache on the bluff. For years, the beach has been known as Goats Beach by local surfers, or Calvert's Beach.

Access is by a gravel road just before the top of the bluff, coordinates for the turnoff are S43 01.422 E147 29.204. There are some lovely walks to do either along the beach or around the bluff.
If you decide to walk to the other end of the beach, there is an amazing track (which appears to be on private land even though it is well worn) that goes over to a blowhole area: very steep and scary when the waves are pumping especially as it is not fenced. But the cache is located on the safer but also spectacular end.

A bit of a scramble to the actual cache location adds to the terrain difficulty. It is about halfway up the cliff just behind/above the big green bushes. When standing back on the beach it is on the left alcove/left side of the huge prominent rock. (I hope that makes sense).

The orginal cache was replaced with a 500ml cammoed sistema.
