Geocache Description:

This cache is at: Fairgrounds Park, Milford. It is a very little used park. It has picnick tables, grills, and lots of shade. It is a very well kept park. Bring a lunch and enjoy the shade. Dogs are welcome too. Also, a cache to find! With a coin to grab the ICON, if you wish.

At the entrance of the park there are TWO large pillars. Very Old. In the future, I want to go to the Milford Historical Society and ask what they were used for. Post your best guess with your log. Logs without a guess will be deleted!

(na, I just wanted to get your attention.)

In this plastic jar with ammo tape, is a log . ALso, it is started with a neat Travel Bug to move on. Also, there is a TreePlanter Silver coin for the FTF Prize. Thanks, and have fun Caching!

My guess about the pillars: They are the old gate posts for the old Milford, Fairgrounds gate! Date: Sept.,19th, 1906.

Milestones:

Neat 2007 information from the Atkinson's: http://www.waterwinterwonderland.com/speed.asp?id=1758&type=9

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Milford Historical Society - 4/12/2005 Just south and east of here were the grounds of the annual Milford Fair. The first fair was held in August of 1880 and repeated every year until 1940 when it was discontinued through World War II. It reopened from 1945 through 1949, but was transferred to Pontiac after that time. The oval where horse racing, and later car racing, took place can still be seen beyond the building.
