Geocache Description:

Spanning the River Nene in a long low curve, the Shanks Millennium Bridge on the outskirts of Peterborough was built at a cost of £750,000 by the Peterborough Environment City Trust to form a vital link in Peterborough's Green Wheel, a network of pedestrian, cycle and bridle paths sponsored by the Millennium Commission. The subtle rusty brown that fits so well into the Fenland landscape comes from the use of Cor-Ten, a steel that oxidises to give a rusty surface that never needs pai

If you choose a day when the wind is blowing along the river, you can hear the bridge 'sing' when the wind blows through its railings. To accompany this, architectural composer and music teacher Stan Hansel created a piece of music, inspired by the natural beauty of the gently curving bridge. Now a 20-minute sequence of music has being loaded on to an MP3 player and installed in a stainless steel box attached to a bridge handrail so that travellers can enjoy the composition simply by pressing a button whenever they cross. (Although when I last visited, the battery seemed to have gone flat !)

The cache is a small metal box, magnetically attached to the bridge at the co-ordinates above and painted to match it. Small swaps only, please.
