Geocache Description:

A small cache in a small park with a big view!

This is located in a park along a nice trail. The park is about .2 of a mile from the closest parking which happens to be at another park with a play area for little kids. You could pick up the trail at several other places and enjoy a longer walk, or continue on a trail near the park that connects to the "back of the falls" part of the Preston - Snoqualmie trail. Along with great views, there is a picnic table to enjoy a bite or contemplate important things like your next geocache! You can continue down the trail for another nice view to the West.

You are looking for a small camo'd lock-n-lock container not far from the trail.

8/28/06 update:
I stopped by today only to find a "TRAIL CLOSED" sign and a lot of heavy equipment - I guess they are building up here again. Although there is yellow tape that goes across the whole area, there is an opening in the middle for the "powerline trail" which connects to the "Whitaker Park Trail". You can access the powerline trail from the little park I mentioned in the description, along Denny Peak Dr. or from Crestview Dr loop - there is a paved trail access that looks a lot like a driveway, but it is public access (I checked with people who live there) in the Northwest side of the loop. This route is still about .2 of a mile, but you do have a bit of a walk under the less than beautiful powerlines. I believe there is an eagles nest down on the first "tower" of the power lines as it runs down the hill at the North end of the trail though - better bring your binoculars!
The more scenic but longer and hillier route is from Azelea Park. This park has a grassy field, a climbing structure school aged kids may enjoy, decent restrooms, a water fountain and a nice view of Mt. Si! You are looking for the "Deep Creek Trail" (there is a map at the corner of the park) which is a nice trail to bike or hike - I took this route there today and really enjoyed the shady hike! It's about 1.75 miles (despite the .75 mile my GPSr stated it was - as the crow flies!) and does have some gradual elevatiom changes, I'd say this is more of a 3 star if you take this route. Stay on the "Main Trail", the other forks head down to the back side of the falls part of the Snoqualmie-Preston trail, there are teo places to do this if you want explore the caches there as well.
I will continue to watch this area for changes in the trail status due to the construction.
