Geocache Description:

A short walk up to an old firetower.

This cache is near the firetower on the top of Craney Hill. Most people know this hill by the ski runs of Pat's Peak which can be seen from I-89 near the junction of U.S. 202.

From NH 114 in Henniker, turn on Flanders Rd., passing Pat's Peak Ski area. Turn left steeply uphill on Craney Hill Road. You will be driving up most of the mountain. Near the height of land at N 43°08.932 W 071°48.106, look for an old, gated road heading up the hill. A rock at the bottom says "Lookout Tower" in faded letters. Pull well off the road, and make sure not to block any driveways. A moderate uphill hike of 0.3 miles will get you to the top of hill where you will see the fire tower and hunt for the cache. Unfortunately, the tower is unsafe and off limits for climbing, and the views from the top of the hill are limited.

The cache is a clear 1-gallon Rubbermaid container with a red cover. It is not near the ski area, but a short walk will bring you to the top of the ski runs.
