Geocache Description:

A neat little wayside rest with a view of the Rainy River - the border between Minnesota and Canada. There is an International Border marker and trail leading down to the river. The cache is located to avoid the frequent high water mark clearly evident at the rest area. The cache is a cammouflage painted ammunition can.

Minnesota State Highway 11 is part of the Waters of the Dancing Sky Scenic Byway which tracks the Minnesota-Canada border for nearly half of it's length. As the routes name suggests, this far northern byway offers nighttime visitors an excellent chance of seeing the magnificent Aurora Borealis, better known as Northern Lights. The route touches the shore of the vast Lake of the Woods, and ends at Rainy Lake, another huge border lake, one of many that make up Minnesota's water-based Voyageurs National Park.
