Geocache Description:

A celebration of the Cummings High School Class of ’75 and your class, too

Having made it a point to attend my first class reunion in 2005 it was a real blast from the past. Not only was it fun but the 30th reunion was the first reunion I attended (can you spell procrastination?). We were in town today visiting my family and did some neat caches in the area and decided I needed to show my appreciation and leave a little something for the caching community. Being a proud member of the Hugh M. Cummings High School Class of ’75, I could think of no better theme.

This is a full sized ammo can hidden to celebrate my Class of '75, and all the graduating classes of all the cachers who find it. ALL THANKS TO JackieA0818 for relocating this cache once and MANY MORE THANKS to flaw.v1 for re-hiding it again to it's new and hopefully perminant location and going way out of his way to keep geocaching alive in Alamance County! (and for saving me a trip up from Florida to fix this). You shouldn't have any problems with muggles but if there are any around, please practice your best geo-stealth moves

The container is hidden well so please be sure to close it tightly and return it to it’s hiding spot when done. Cover it and make sure it's away from the spying eyes of muggles!!!

Be sure to give your high school credit in your log listing for this cache and yes, even you William’s folks are allowed to list your find :O)

The new location for this cache is at the end of the old Huffman Field / Fairchild Field airport facility near the abandoned railroad tracks that were the lifeline of this part of the county. When I was growing up here in the 70’s I used to scoot over here from South Sellars Mill and this was one of our big hangouts and a great place to ride and watch the radio controlled folks practicing their skills. You can read some history of this location at (visit link) and it would be great to visit this spot before it all gets gobbled up (a big chunk of it is now the Super Wal-Mart). The first plane landed here in 1919 and during WWII (that’s World War II for you younger cachers…. hehehe) the Fairchild Aircraft Company built the Fairchild AT-21 Gunner here. Even George Wallace held a rally at Huffman Field during his campaign for president in 1968. Yeah, lots of history at this spot so enjoy the cache, visit the link and appreciate some history!

Have fun and happy caching!
