Please note: The island is almost completely
private property. Please respect that on your visit. Do not cut
across lawns or people's house lots or fields on your visit; stay
on the roads, follow the shoreline and beaches, and usually there
are old hunting paths just inside the edge of the woods when the
shoreline turns into cliffs that meet the forest edge. These caches
are present on the condition of respect from visiting cachers.
Thankyou.
This cache is as close to a park & grab as you can get on
Ironbound.
The Government Wharf used to consist of two sections, the outer
one having a small utility building and a light that lit the
harbour at night. However, over time the balast washed out of the
cribwork, until finally in a storm it broke loose and washed
ashore. The inner wharf still remains but the outer section was
never rebuilt. Instead, a rock wall was constructed to protect the
harbour from the ocean storms. It will not be going anywhere
soon!
Terrain is at 5 since you need a boat to reach the island.
Once there, the terrain is about a 1 for this cache.
