This Hospital Relief Series will be an easy series of caches to bring some relief from a visit to the hospital. We all know how boring (all that waiting and hanging around), intense and exhausting these visits can be. The idea behind these caches is to have something interesting to look forward to either before, during or after the visit.
This cache is near Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. You can leave your car parked in Derriford (if that's indeed where you're starting from), you've paid enough for it anyway and it is also very difficult to park closer during office hours.
They used to give you 45 minutes free parking, but this has now been reduced to a totally inadequate 15 mins and the car park is barrier controlled; you have to take a chipped token on entry and pay the appropriate fee (min.£2.20) before leaving.
This cache is in the Bircham Valley Nature Reserve. On the map the area shows pretty well as nothing, but there is actually a very nice bit of nature there. Go and explore this if you wish.
You can stay on the main path for most of the walk, only for the last 5 meters or so is it necessary to stray into the woods.
