Somogytúr is a little village not far from the lake Balaton. Here is a Museum in Memory
Lajos Kunffy, who was a celebrated Hungarian artist. His career began in a small Hungarian village during the last third nineteenth century. He spent nearly twenty years in the capital city of art, Paris where he was a regular contributor to the exhibitions of the salons.

During the height of his career Kunffy was a member of the select artistic and intellectual elite of French society. Kunffy painted his best pictures during the summers he spent at his home in Hungary. He returned permanently to Hungary, first to Budapest, and later to Somogytur, where he built an atelier in the garden. He himself designed the spacious, half-Hungarian, half-Greek style building, which included a colonnade and a tympanum.
In 1958 his atelier was open to the public as a picture gallery named for him.He died in 1962, at the age of 93.
