Geocache Description:

A simple multi-cache/walking tour of Old New Castle.

As you will undoubtedly become aware, Old New Castle is full of American History, and as such, this cache has been made to inform you of just a small percentage of the history of this area.

This is an 8 stage cache, and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes or so to do. The stages can be done in any order, but the listed order should be fine as well. Ok, now on to the cache.

Stage 1. 39° 39.610' 075° 33.755' This is a Stone monument, you'll need to look for the oldest year listed on the plaque.

Stage 2. 39° 39.587' 075° 33.778' This is a statue, at the base of the statue (NOT the plaque at the bottom) are the years in which the person depicted in the statue was born, and died. You'll need both the years.

Stage 3. Same coordinates as stage 2. Next to the statue is a historical marker. From the sign, you'll need the number of acres set apart, and the year in which that happened.

Stage 4. 39° 39.598' 075° 33.800' This building was the Sheriff's House, located at these coordinates in a marker of sorts, that was built into the wall of the building. You'll need the year, and the number of names listed here.

Stage 5. 39° 39.511' 075° 33.758' These coordinates are for another historical marker. On this sign, it states that William Penn first landed here, and a date for that. You'll need the day in which this happened.

Stage 6. 39° 39.485' 075° 33.741' This was the ticket office for the New Castle Frenchtown Railroad. In what year was the the ticket office built?

Stage 7. 39° 39.566' 075° 33.698' These coordinates are for a wall plaque at the George Reed House. You'll need the month in which he was born, the day in which he died, and the year the house was destroyed.

Ok, now that you've been to the first 7 stages, here's what you need to get organized to be added.

From stage 1. The oldest year
From stage 2. Add the two years together
From stage 3. Add the acres to the year
From stage 4. Add the year and the number of names together
From stage 5. The day in which he landed.
From stage 6. The year
From stage 7. Add the month born to the day died, to the year the house was destroyed.

Alright, now that you have in order what you need. Add stages 1 through 4 together, and stages 5 through 7 together.

Now add stages 1-4 to the lattitude below, and stages 5-7 to the longitude below.

39° 29.769'
075° 30.070'

If you are interested to learn more about the area, stop into the old Court House, they have maps for people to give themselves self guided tours of the town, and there is also the George Reed mansion that gives tours, for a fee of course.

Also, there are 4 other caches very close by this cache, that are within walking distance.
