Buckstane is a lot smaller than Caiystane, standing at just over 1m
high, and like Caiystane, it gives its name to a nearby suburb of
Edinburgh: Buckstone. Tradition associates the Buck Stane with the
Barony of Penicuik and the royal hunts on the Boroughmuir. A plaque
on the wall states that the stone used to mark the spot where the
buckhounds were unleashed when the King of Scotland hunted in the
region.
