Located on a small island on Porters Lake.
This is the 2nd of a series of caches that are located on a few of my favorite smallmouth bass lakes. Porters Lake is popular with tournment smallmouth bass fishermen. I myself personally love this lake for boating but hate it for fishing. This lake for me is the toughest to consistly catch fish. Today you will catch lots of fish in an area and a couple days later no fish can be caught on the same spot. They always say on every lake "90% of the fish are located in 10% of the water." Well then, 90% of the smallies in Porters Lake seem to always be moving around to a different location. Any cachers out there willing to share the corrds of good fishing locations on Porters Lake please feel free to send them to me. lol
To find this cache you will need a boat, canoe, kayak, etc. since it is located on an island. Swimming is not recommended.
There are two boat public boat launches that I know of for this lake. One is located at the Porters Lake Provincal Park. The park is 4.4 km (2.7 mi.) south of Exit 19 from Highway 107, on the West Porters Lake Rd. Starting at this location will require the longest distance to travel and much more difficult to navigate the lake. The other boat launch is much closer(1.6km from the cache). Take Exit 19 from Highway 107 and go North to Porters Lake. Turn at the post office located at N44º 44.346 W063º 18.262. Take this road until you reach the public boat launch located at N44º 44.489 W063º 18.495.
The cache is located north of the boat launch on a small island. The cache contains some of the normal trading stuff, log book, stash note and some fishing "tackle". For the FTF is $5.00 Tims cert.
