A nice walk or ride to a location on the Illawarra Escarpment that very few people know exists.
Welcome to my first cache.
The cache is nestled in a hidden spot on the top of the Illawarra Escarpment State Recreation Area. The area was once used as a training ground for local troops heading to Vietnam (or so local rumor has it). A mock Vietnamese village, "VC Ville", was once here, but all that remains is a bamboo plantation.
The cache is along a fantastic trail for bike riding that goes from Bulli Tops to Brokers Nose and then along to Mount Ousley. Whether you walk or ride, beware of the motorbikes!
Accessing the cache will be your biggest challenge, I certainly would not recommend that you park along the F6 Freeway at all, but rather access from further afield. Unless of course you own a helicopter, in which case there is a helipad just nearby!
Please ensure that the cache is well hidden before you leave so that it is not found by any passing motorbikes.
