Dagger Falls Overlook Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Cache is a 50 Cal Ammo box that was filled with goodies donated by our two girls (20 Muddy Toes).
While in the area on a warm summer afternoon on the trusty ATV's. Someone shouted out lets ride over to Dagger Falls. We quickly said the we knew of this place from when we use to hunt the area for Elk and had not been back to the falls for 10+ years. We also said that there had better be a cache there because if not we were going to hide one. Sure enough no cache appeared on anyone's screen as we neared the falls so here you go.
A family car and be driven to within 100 feet of the cache as the road is well maintained by the US Forest Service. Not far from the cache is a major lauch site for rafters brave enough to float the Salmon River. We recommend that while in the area during the summmertime that you take the drive to the launch site and see if you can watch a launch. It really is something to witness.
As for the cache we would recommend that kids are left in the campground as the location requires some minor rock climbing that ends with a nice bird's eye view of the lower falls. Please be careful if you attempt this cache as the river and falls are close by. Nearby an actual overlook and abandon fish ladder can be seen. Just on up the road about 300 feet is the foot bridge that we used to cross the river to go hunting. This foot bridge gives a nice view of the river before the falls.
