With rising gas
prices and Al gore telling us about the environment, I
felt it was time for my second Cycling Depot cache.
This is a cache to promote cycling. Like my Brant Cycling Depot, I
wanted to put it out in such a way that forces you to use the rail
trail under human power however you can drive to the stages and
park but even then you are going to walk on the trail for a bit.
(10-11km round trip!).
Cache consists of two micros and a final cache. I wanted to make
this cache promote the environment so I included some items to help
you conserve energy.
Initial contents of the cache are
Several of those energy coupon books
the government gave out recently,
An energy efficient night light (uses less than a watt!)
FTF prize of a new 10,000 hour Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb
(13W).
Plus some rim tape and a CD carrying case
This cache is best completed and enjoyed while cycling as we
want to promote cycling on this trail however it can also be done
by automobile and makes for a nice afternoon walk albeit a long one
as it is just over 5 km from start to finish.
If you do drive it is very doable as I made sure each stage is
relatively near parking of some sort, however you will enjoy it
best via cycling. Doing this cache via car is no worse than doing
regular caches just there are three of them (2 stages and the
final)
You can park at N 43 15.38 W 079 55.989 or park at university plaza
in Dundas if you wish to access the trail.
Now the posted co-ordinates do not get you to the cache but to a
point where you must search for a Micro that contains the next
stage. I hope you enjoy this cache and I plan to get at least one
more cycling depots out this year.
***Note Be a bit careful approaching stage 2, you should be
fine but excerise a bit of caution
***Note The final is about 10m from the trail however it is a
bit of a steep slope to the cache. I first scouted out the area
before the foilage really grew in the spring and it was not bad
however was out there at night placing the final after a full day
of rain and I had to be careful. As long as you are careful you
will be fine
