This "W" marker was listed in the Burlington Post as a mysterious marker.
It is 1.5 metres high, 30 cm wide and made of early concrete (see photo).
The mystery has been solved. It is a whistle marker for the Lakeshore Road level crossing.
It was placed either by the Grand Trunk Railway or Canadian National Railway.
This spurline (from Stoney Creek to the old Freeman railway station) was removed in 1972.
