This cache is one of 3 we have located around the Beacon area. This area is great in the wildflower season.
We have called this cache Barnies lookout, after a aboriginal named Barnie Brockman who hid in this area with his wife and 12 children whilst on the run from the local arm of the law. You can still see his hide out that was covered in old branches and shrubbery.
The parking spot is at DATJOIN (DAHJOING) well. This well was dug and maintained by local sandalwood cutters James and Edward Moran in the early 1900's
The well could be used as an camping area, but there are no facilities here except for a home made BBQ that has been made from old disc ploughs.
Please make sure that you put the lid back on correctly.
Enjoy this area.
