I originally went up this summit to place a small tin with a few
trade items but I found some old summit logs, and a "cremains"
certificate, that needed preservation help. This is a popular
destination for SAHC members and other groups. The old summit log
pill bottle was disintegrating and the papers were getting damaged
so I carried them back with me. There is another newer summit glass
jar still in place. I pieced the damaged logs back together, taped
them, and scanned them for digital posterity. I did the same with
the cremated remains certificate and I laminated it. The original
logs and certificate are now in a new plastic jar inside the ammo
can. Please don't open it so that they preserve longer. You can
read the certificate without opening it. See uploaded pictures for
more details.
Also on the summit, you will find a solar powered radio
re-transmitter operated by the USDA Walnut Gulch Experimental
Watershed project. It relays signals from many precipitation and
flow monitoring stations to the headquarters that you will pass on
old Bisbbe HWY near Landin Park.
Note the picture of the OFF LIMITS sign. Though it may seem
oriented toward the road, it is not. It is for the old mine/quarry
entrance to the right that is now blocked off.
